The Oncology Institute offers a full breadth of clinical trial services to allow our patients to experience up-and-coming treatments and cancer care. Throughout clinical trials, our patients’ safety is our top priority. We will schedule follow-up appointments to ensure the trial is working. Otherwise, we can help you find a more traditional treatment that works for you.
Radiation Oncology
Our radiation oncology services include radiation therapies. This treatment option uses high-energy radiation to destroy cancer cells while preserving the surrounding healthy cells. We offer two types of radiation treatment depending on your cancer type and location, tumor size, medical history, and previous treatments:
- External radiation therapy: This form of radiation therapy uses state-of-the-art technology to aim photon beams at cancer cells or tumors, destroying them and reducing their ability to multiply. It is most often used in radiation oncology.
- Internal radiation therapy: Internal radiation therapy involves administering capsule or intravenous (IV) radiation to shrink tumors and reduce cancer cells. The capsules are implanted inside the body near the tumor to deliver a radioactive substance at a controlled rate. With IV therapy, the substance enters the bloodstream during scheduled sessions in our clinic.
High-Value Cancer Care
Because treatment can be complex and highly personal, we have developed a High-Value Cancer Care (HVCC) Program. This program is tailored to patients experiencing advanced cancer. It utilizes a care model that prioritizes their needs, desires, and preferences.
Through this program, you will have the information, support, clinical education, and resources to empower you in your treatment journey, including:
- A health care coach: You will be partnered with a health care coach to help you navigate your cancer diagnosis and treatment. This partnership will include 24/7 access to your coach, symptom assessment, clinical triages, advanced care planning, and ongoing care coordination.
- A mobile-based care platform: Our ANKR mobile care platform makes it easy for you and your family to access your cancer treatment plan. You can explore treatment possibilities, access our providers, and log your symptoms on a single app.
- Mental health support: Mental and physical health go hand in hand during cancer treatment. The Oncology Institute has social workers who conduct mental health screenings and provide ongoing support throughout treatment.
