Babak Baseri, M.D. earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in hematology and oncology at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, where he served as chief fellow in his fellowship program. He also has a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now merged with Rutgers University).
Dr. Baseri has extensive clinical and research experience. Prior to medical school, he was a research scientist at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University. During his medical school residency and fellowship, he trained at numerous healthcare systems, serving diverse patient populations, including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey, Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Brooklyn, and Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn.
Dr. Baseri has received awards and certificates of achievement in research during his training. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and lota Epsilon Alpha international medical honor society. He has multiple publications and poster/abstract presentations in the fields of hematology/oncology and biomedical sciences. He remains highly active in clinical studies and continues to publish in his field. His research interests include clinical risk assessments, prognostic and predictor markers, sequencing and timing of cancer therapeutics, cancer prevention, and patient outcomes.
Dr. Baseri is fluent in Farsi.
