Dr. Merrill Shum Speaks to Fox 11 News About the Correlation Between Wildfires and Lung Disease

 

 

 

 

A recent study found that people living within 30 miles of wildfires are 5% more likely to develop lung cancer and 10% more likely to develop brain cancer. This study followed individuals over the course of 10 years. Dr. Merrill Shum, Medical Director of The Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation, spoke to Hal Eisner of Fox 11 News about the study and preventative measures individuals can take to protect themselves.
