Carmelo Blanquicett, M.D., Ph.D., FACP is a board-certified Hematologist and Medical Oncologist who brings over 20 years of clinical research and compassionate care to The Oncology Institute. Dr. Blanquicett has experience treating patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
He received his medical degree from Meharry Medical College, School of Medicine in Tennessee. He went on to complete his Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital and entered the U.S. Air Force Reserve as a Medical Officer in the same year. Dr. Blanquicett went on to complete a Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in George, and finally, completed a Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center at the University of South Florida.
Dr. Blanquicett has a deep understanding of the field of oncology. He has led in-depth research studies and has been published in well-known peer-reviewed publications as a subject matter expert over the course of his career. He also is involved in giving back to his community and actively partakes as a medical volunteer. Outside of work, Dr. Blanquicett enjoys playing tennis, culinary science, and travel photography.
