Matt Miller, M.D., is Chief Operating Officer at The Oncology Institute. As Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Miller oversees all field and central operations nationally for TOI, as well as our technology and new market implementation teams. Since joining TOI in 2020, Dr. Miller has focused on tangible improvements to TOI’s operations that have had a meaningful impact on the experience of patients, physicians, and payor partners. Under his leadership, TOI has improved the reliability, efficiency, and transparency of centralized teams, and implemented new tools and infrastructure in preparation for TOI’s rapid growth.
Before joining The Oncology Institute, Dr. Miller was Senior Vice President of Clinical Strategy & Innovation at Landmark Health, a home-based physician practice focused on managing complex, chronically ill patients under risk arrangements. Dr. Miller and the team he built helped professionalize and scale Landmark from initial markets and contracts into a national enterprise with markets in 13 states, leading operational and strategic initiatives across the country. He also evaluated and deployed tools and technologies, managed strategic partnerships and vendor relationships, and assessed new business opportunities.
Before Landmark, Dr. Miller spent seven years at McKinsey & Company as part of the consulting firm’s Healthcare Systems & Services practice. At McKinsey, he developed and executed projects for more than 20 clients, primarily government and private sector payers and providers. Much of his work centered on the U.S. healthcare system’s transition from fee-for-service to value-based care. Dr. Miller holds joint M.D. and M.B.A. degrees from UCLA, and a B.A. from Harvard.
