Our Cancer Care Options

The Oncology Institute provides various options for high-quality cancer care, including:

  • TOI clinical research services: Our clinical trials run in three phases and conclude with a follow-up to evaluate their effectiveness and the patient’s physical, emotional, and mental condition.
  • Radiation oncology:  We offer external and internal radiation therapy options. Radiation therapy is a common cancer treatment that targets and destroys cancer cells and tumors by damaging their DNA to prevent further replication.
  • High-value cancer care (HVCC) program: Through this program, patients receive 24/7 access to supportive and dedicated health coaches and a mobile-based care platform that keeps them informed. This platform also provides patients with a place to track and log their symptoms and contains information on various treatment options.
  • Women’s cancer care: We provide gynecologic and breast cancer care. Gynecologic cancer refers to the varieties that begin in the female reproductive system, such as cervical and ovarian cancers. Our breast cancer care includes the diagnosis and treatment of ductal carcinoma, triple-negative breast cancer, inflammatory breast cancer, and lobular carcinoma.
  • Cancer treatment options: We offer various cancer treatment options so we can create personalized plans for each patient.

Our Hollywood oncology center has eight chemo chairs and five exam rooms.

What Does Value-Based Care Provide?

Value-based care is a delivery model that emphasizes achieving the best patient outcomes with high-quality interventions at lower costs. It focuses on reimbursement models that reward quality, efficiency, and patient outcomes. Value-based care is the way forward, and a key part of how we’re changing oncology for the better.

The essential components of value-based care are robust data collection and analysis systems. These systems enable health care providers to collect, analyze, and interpret data related to patient outcomes, health care costs, and quality of care. By leveraging advanced analytics and data-driven insights, we can:

  • Identify opportunities for improvement
  • Monitor performance
  • Personalize care
  • Optimize resource allocation
  • Improve clinical outcomes
  • Increase treatment adherence
  • Enhance collaboration
  • Drive down costs

Cancer Categories and Forms

Broadly speaking, cancer is a group of serious diseases caused by genetic changes in cells. There are more than 100 types of cancer that are categorized by which cell they start in, forming the following categories:

  • Carcinoma
  • Sarcoma
  • Lymphoma and myeloma
  • Leukemia
  • Central nervous system cancers

Cancers can manifest in different ways. Blood cancers like leukemia affect the blood cells, while other types result in solid growths called tumors. Not all tumors are cancerous, but those that are typically require treatment.
