Biography

Luis Sumoza, M.D. is a board-certified Medical Oncologist and Hematologist based on Florida. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Facultad de Medicina at the Universidad de Carabobo in Venezuela. Dr. Sumoza then pursued further specialization, completing his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Carabobo/Hospital Central de Valencia, where he also served as Chief Resident. He undertook a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Subsequently, he completed a Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Throughout his career, Dr. Sumoza has held notable academic and clinical positions. He served as Director of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at Guerra Mendez Medical Center in Venezuela. Following this, he joined Rush University and John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois, where he held the position of Assistant Professor of Medicine. Dr. Sumoza then contributed his expertise as a Locum in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Weatherby Healthcare, Alton Memorial Hospital in Illinois.
