  3. Immunotherapy

Treating cancer is more than assessing causes and addressing symptoms. We focus on providing emotional, psychological, and social support throughout diagnosis and treatment to assist with:

  • Relationships and communication: Cancer diagnoses often affect both the patient and their loved ones. Providing support equips patients with coping skills, resilience, and adaptive strategies to navigate the physical and emotional challenges of their cancer journey.
  • Symptom management: Emotional distress can exacerbate physical symptoms. By addressing psychological concerns and providing support, healthcare providers help patients manage symptoms more effectively and improve their overall comfort during treatment.
  • Healing on multiple levels: Cancer care is multidimensional, encompassing medical treatment as well as mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of well-being. Through a holistic care approach that addresses the whole person, healthcare providers optimize patient outcomes and promote healing on multiple levels.
  • Survivorship and beyond: Emotional, social, and psychological support is essential during active treatment and throughout the survivorship phase and beyond. Helping patients process their cancer experience, adjust to life after treatment, and navigate survivorship challenges promotes long-term well-being and improves their ability to thrive beyond cancer.

Our Hialeah location has five exam rooms and nine treatment chairs.

Our oncologists will consider your overall health and the stage and type of your cancer to create a personalized plan for you. They will then discuss our various treatment options, including chemotherapy, hormone therapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy. Our team focuses on providing emotional, social, and psychological support at every phase of treatment.

If you’re looking for a particular doctor in our system, you can easily find your preferred physician using our filtering tools.

There are more than 100 types of cancer. These are commonly classified by the type of cell they start in, forming the following categories:

  • Carcinoma
  • Sarcoma
  • Lymphoma and myeloma
  • Leukemia
  • Central nervous system cancers

Cancer is generally associated with tumors, which are lumps or growths that can be either benign or malignant. Benign tumors are not cancerous and usually grow slowly. Malignant tumors are cancerous and grow considerably faster. However, some cancers, such as leukemia, do not create a perceivable mass. These can be harder to detect.

After finding cancer, a doctor performs tests to determine its extent and if it has spread from where it began. These findings are known as the cancer stage, which can range from one to four — four is the most advanced. Knowing the stage you are at is important for deciding what treatment option to choose.

Cancer can spread from where it started to other parts of the body through the bloodstream or lymph system in a process known as metastasis. Factors such as metastasis, lymph node proximity, and location all contribute to a cancer’s stage.
