Physician Assistant
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Identify and treat patients’ diseases
- Perform initial and periodic physical examinations and explore patient’s interpretation of health needs
- Conduct in-depth interviews with patients and/or family
- Construct comprehensive medical histories
- Instruct and counsel patients and families regarding preventative care, medical problems, psychological problems, and use prescribed treatments and drugs
- Develop and implement long and short range treatment plans
- Directly perform or order appropriate diagnostic studies and interpret finished results
- Write orders to increase, decrease or change medication, subject to checking and counter-signing by physician
- Perform bone biopsies
- Indentify and record pertinent progress of patients, update and summarize charts, change orders when appropriate and notify physician of changes in patient’ condition
- Ensure patient information, visit history, refer outs, lab follow-ups, phone calls and consults are carefully and completely documented in the electronic medical record
Job Requirements:
- Graduate of an approved primary care physician assistant or surgical physician assistant program approved by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Medical Board of California (M.B.C) and the Physician Assistant Examining Committee (P.A.E.C)
- Current DEA
- BLS certification
- National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Previous Oncology/Hematology experience preferred but not required
