Physician Assistant

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Identify and treat patients’ diseases
  • Perform initial and periodic physical examinations and explore patient’s interpretation of health needs
  • Conduct in-depth interviews with patients and/or family
  • Construct comprehensive medical histories
  • Instruct and counsel patients and families regarding preventative care, medical problems, psychological problems, and use prescribed treatments and drugs
  • Develop and implement long and short range treatment plans
  • Directly perform or order appropriate diagnostic studies and interpret finished results
  • Write orders to increase, decrease or change medication, subject to checking and counter-signing by physician
  • Perform bone biopsies
  • Indentify and record pertinent progress of patients, update and summarize charts, change orders when appropriate and notify physician of changes in patient’ condition
  • Ensure patient information, visit history, refer outs, lab follow-ups, phone calls and consults are carefully and completely documented in the electronic medical record

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved primary care physician assistant or surgical physician assistant program approved by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Medical Board of California (M.B.C) and the Physician Assistant Examining Committee (P.A.E.C)
  • Current DEA
  • BLS certification
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Previous Oncology/Hematology experience preferred but not required
