Nurse Practitioner

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Identify and treat patients’ diseases
  • Perform initial and periodic physical examinations and explore patients interpretation of health needs
  • Conduct in-depth interviews with patients and / or family
  • Construct comprehensive medical histories
  • Instruct and counsel patients and families regarding preventative care, medical problems, psychological problems, and use prescribed treatments and drugs
  • Develop and implement long and short range treatment plans
  • Directly perform or order appropriate diagnostic studies and interpret finished results
  • Write orders to increase, decrease or change medication, subject to checking and counter-signing by physician
  • Perform bone marrow biopsies
  • Identify and record pertinent progress of patients, update and summarize charts, change orders when appropriate and notify physician of changes in the patient’ condition
  • Ensure patient information, visit history, refer outs, lab follow-ups, phone calls and consults are carefully and completely documented in the electronic medical record

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • Current Certificate of completion from a Nursing Practitioner program
  • Current and valid California State RN and Nurse Practitioner license
  • Current DEA
  • Current CPR/BCLS certification
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Previous Oncology/Hematology experience preferred but not required
  • National certification required upon employment
